I’ve been thrilled at how many people have signed up for our free ‘One Magical Minute 4 Me’ course, and at the fabulous feedback I’ve had about how people are enjoying it.

International no diet day
I also chose to start this newsletter with an Xhosa greeting (not just because I love the language with all it’s clicks) but also because I think the Western world has a lot to learn from rural Black South African women. You don’t find them obsessing about being thin – which obviously means you don’t find them dieting.
In my book ‘Mind over Fatter: learn to feel great without ever dieting’ (found in all good bookstores in South Africa and from the Mind over Fatter website) and The Joy-Filled Body: Eat! Play! Love and Live!” (which you can order from the ditch-diets-live-light website and is now available in e.book) I discuss fascinating research done by the Royal College of Physicians amongst this group of non-skinny women and their health and low mortality rates.
Diets are the cause of:
• An epidemic of eating disorders –you don’t find bulimia, anorexia or any other eating disorders in cultures that aren’t thin-obsessed.
• Ever increasing levels of obesity (as diets have increased since the 1970’s so has obesity risen exponentially according to Dr. Bacon and her research team).

RESIGNING FROM ADULTHOOD
Ever noticed how children live every day as we should on International Non-Diet Day? They aren’t obsessed about food, they love to run around and they love themselves and their bodies?
They haven’t yet had their minds polluted with all this thin and diet nonsense. So when I got this e.mail (unfortunately I don’t know who wrote it to get permission to change it the way I have) the other day I thought it was time we all resigned from adulthood – go on I dare you!
I wanna be 4 again…
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of a 4 year-old again.
•I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
•I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and jump in it without worrying that I’ll make more laundry.
•I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
•I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all I knew were colours, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother me, because I didn't know what I didn't know, nor did I care. All I knew was to be happy because I was blissfully unaware of all the things, like scales and clothes sizes, that should worry or upset me.
• I want to think the world is fair. That everyone loves and accepts me chubby legs, dimply arms ‘n all.
• I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly enthusiastic about the little things again.
• I want to live simple. I don't want my day to consist of worrying about what has how many calories, my too tight jeans, or feeling guilty about that gym membership I still haven’t activated.
• I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my chequebook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my bank statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first...
The ditch-diets-live-light website
Our new website continues to experience exponential growth – in April we had over 4000 visitors and over 10 000 pages viewed which for a 4-month old site is apparently quite something.
I’ve added a whole lot new pages – so don’t forget to pop in and visit us again. One visitor who stumbled across it described it “Outrageoulsy Creative” – how fabulous is that.
Thanks so much to all of you who write to me to tell you what my books mean to you. This work bring me so much joy and what is life worth if it isn’t joy-filled?

TIP FOR THE MONTH
• What you believe determines the way you feel…,
• and the way you feel determines the way you act…,
• and the way you act determines the consequences!
Thus, when you change what you believe, you change your feelings, your actions and the results.
So often we are buying into old unchallenged beliefs – things we weren’t born believing e.g I must eat all the food on my plate. So if you believe this, you’ll feel guilty when you try to leave it and so you’ll land up cleaning your plate and the consequence may be that you gain weight.
For this month: Pretend that you’ve handed in your resignation from adult beliefs. Practice imaging that you haven’t got any programmed beliefs yet – practice thinking that life is simple, and that anything is possible and that you are loved regardless. And watch what what magically happens.
