TURNING CHALLENGES INTO SUCCESSES
So, life isn't going as planned - things aren't going your way. You're another diet failure. The diet you started as part of your New Year's resolution is a thing of the past, and in addition, your tomatoe plant has just died from a bug infestation and you can't afford to fix your broken down car. It's enough to make you want to scream, feel down and to just give up all hope.
Sometimes things can seem so overwhelming and sometimes it seems to come in grapes (bunches) only they taste sour instead of sweet. The real question is - how do we get past these obstacles and challenges - stronger, happier, and more confident in our future?
I wish I could say there was one easy recipe. But frankly, what works for me, might not work for you and vice versa. So no one solution fits all because we're all unique and different and we see different things as challenges and we find different solutions.
But, here is one thing that I do think seems to be true: and that's that stumbling blocks can often be stepping stones in disguise. For example: when I became a diet failure for the umpteenth time and I was feeling so down on myself and desperate - I never realized that those feelings would be the opening to what a fabulous new direction, of stopping dieting and living more naturally. It was that desperate feeling of being a failure that birthed Mind over Fatter and what has driven my passion to help free others from dieting too.
Your tomatoes dying might encourage you to replant a different, hardier species that draws rave reviews from your family who might have been luke-warn about the previous species. Not being able to afford to have your car fixed might mean you dust off your old bicycle and re-discover the feelings of freedom cycling once gave you.
Most of us avoid change. Let's face it, It's much easier to continue in that comfortable rut we've carved we've "auto-piloted" in. It's more comfortable.
So what would it really take to turn a diet failure into something fabulous? Might it be the very thing that frees you once and for all from all the angst that goes with being on the yo-yo diet bandwagon? How could your diet failure turn into a stepping stone to something different?
I thought this saying went perfectly with being a diet failure (of the good kind) "Eat, shrink and be merry!" ~ Unknown ~

Well, the final manuscript for Mom, pass the broccoli, has been submitted for editing - yay! You'd never believe just how many hours goes into a 180-page book!
One dietician who reviewed it said: "WOW – seriously I mean that in a good way! You made some extremely valid points that were quite eye opening. ...Reading your chapter made me WANT TO DO MORE in terms of how I react to the world out there and it really motivated me to WANT to make changes in my own children’s lives (and although I had some knowledge – purely because of my nutritional background- of the points you brought up ), even I was shocked and motivated at once! I must say I really wanted to read more.
